μ•ˆλ…• 아리! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ Thank you for another lovely podcast! I have been wondering what started this one-curler trend, so I really appreciate the background that you provided! I honestly believe that Western media likely has not been intentionally overlooking idols' impact on culture and society in many cases, but may be oblivious to many idols' activities in the first place, for example, Hani wearing her curler publicly, which started the trend with younger Korean girls. In this case, they may partially be jumping to conclusions rather than thoroughly researching the topic prior to writing their articles, to your point.

As a side note, I saw a girl wearing a curler on just her bang while waiting in line for BTS merch last week, which made me want to look up this trend again. The timing of this topic on your podcast is impeccable! πŸ˜„

Here is my script for this week's voicemail:

μ•ˆλ…•ν•«μ—μš” 아리! κ°μ‚¬ν•©λ‹ˆλ‹€ for including Startup in this week's podcast! I think it's interesting how there's more than one word for forgetting something in Korean. I also agree that idols should get more credit in how they help shape (at least Korean) society and trends, especially with masks.

Also Lissa, I hope you had a great time at the BTS concert it sounded fun!πŸ’œ

I'm sure you see a lot of how Koreans (and Asians) are portrayed in American media, but if you haven't seen it yet you might be interested in the Sesame Street special that aired on American Thanksgiving. Since it is a children's show that has declined in popularity since the advent of streaming, it was easy to miss. It is available on YouTube - I hope it's accessible from Korea! https://youtu.be/hcPXYRDFr-8
