Hello Ari, and what an amazing piece about the Korean People's Response to the threat of tantamount military dictatorship.
The video of Lee Lang fronting the choir and musicians, playing to the vast host of people (you said 2 million, like maybe one in five of the city population ?).
The lyrics and the story you tell about it, and classic indie folk rock at its finest. Lee Lang has a v new fan.
And the Battle of Nam Tae-ryeong and 17 tractors and farmers. WOW. And all the support people and young women with glow sticks. And so cold.
Your word picture of the evening so eloquent and descriptive. And elements of obvious potential flashpoint danger.
Only one point of disappointment as you called the farmers old men ( I am 65+ and don't consider myself old !) Joke .
And Hats Off to Them (the farmers) and You All; an old school term , a sign of respect, as you briefly take your hat off with your left hand and slightly bow or bend your neck. Sometimes done if you don't have a hat on, by pretending to pinch the non existent brim between your left thumb and first finger and imitate removing your hat.
And trying to understand the Constitutional Court review; looked as if you need 6 votes to confirm and currently only 6 positions filled, and the question of whether the unfilled positions will be filled ??
Eternal vigilance.
Your Korean lesson of particular interest and surprise. My family and close friends name is Bok !

새해 복 많이 받으세요, Cristoffa! Thanks for your comment as always and sorry for using an inappropriate word; haha I totally agree that the age of 65+ is not old.
Recently, two positions in the Constitutional Court were added so now it's 8, but we need to make it full 9 to ensure to impeach the lunatic. With only 8, it only takes 3 objections to nullify? the impeachment and reportedly there are 3 conservative judges who might object so it's not safe. With 9, it takes 4 objections to nullify which is highly unlikely.
In the past, the names end with bok were popular especially between boys. Bok in those names mean the same with the one in 새해 복 많이 받으세요. I believe the word was used to wish a child's happiniess throughout their life.
Really appreciate how you keep us up to date with the non sugar-coated realities going on in South Korea. 새해 복 많이 받으세요
Thanks for reading, Melanie! 새해 복 많이 받으세요 to you too ❤️
제가 모든 한국사람을 응원하겠습니다. 새해 복 많이 많이 받으세요!
감사합니다! DP님도 새해 복 많이 많이 받으세요!
