Hi Ari, I can only strongly re-iterate Jason's words of congratulations and delight in seeing and reading your words again.

Love the concept of Muchim, and reminds me a bit of some non Euro summer lunches and cuke salads or sandwiches by my v non traditional Great Aunties; maybe a return recipe/meal sometime and a reminder of their lovely beach side home at the Gold Coast (called Southport then) before it became a tourist destination.

And, your Ode to a Decent Prez is so informative.

Got a sort of Abraham Lincoln vibe from his lines in the Gettysberg Address; Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from this earth.

In Oz we would say he seems like a decent bloke and a kind man also.

And has a bit of the Survivor Potential, like your former President Kim Dae-jung.

Regards.

Hi Cristoffa,

Thank you so much for your kind congratulations—I truly appreciate your support and encouragement through these challenging months.

I loved hearing how Muchim reminded you of your Great Aunties’ summer lunches—it’s always fascinating how food connects us across cultures and memories. Muchim is indeed a bit like a salad, but many Korean Muchim dishes are typically spicy, often including both minced garlic and Korean red pepper flakes. For this week’s newsletter, though, I shared a milder cucumber Muchim recipe so that my international readers could enjoy it without the heat.

You’re so right about Lee Jae-myung reminding us of Kim Dae-jung. After surviving the assassination attempt, many have started calling him the modern Kim Dae-jung. I’m genuinely excited to see what he’ll achieve in the office over the next five years.

Thanks again for sharing your memories and thoughts. Take care! 💙

I am so happy for you and for your country! Hooray for making it the other side of that awful administration! I'm so glad you can breathe and rest easy once again. Enjoy the sense of peace that comes with feeling like everything will be alright, even if there still remains an immediate mess around you. Congratulations!

Hi, Jason!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for all the support and prayers you’ve sent me over the past months—it truly means a lot to me. 🙏 Like you said, there’s still a long process ahead to clean up the mess left by the former administration. Those responsible need to be held accountable, and it will take time to restore trust and rebuild fully. But for now, I finally feel like I can breathe again, and that sense of peace is such a gift.

I just saw the news about the LA protests. I really hope that America finds peace and stability soon. I know how difficult and exhausting it can be when your country feels like it’s on edge ㅠㅠ

Please stay safe and take care! 💙
